If you are arriving by rail, the most convenient mainline station is York. Bowcliffe Hall is approximately 16 miles from York station (a half-hour taxi journey).
Please note that due to recent upgrades to the A1 in the Wetherby and Bramham area some maps may now be out of date. We recommend that you consult the driving directions below for detailed instructions (which take the road changes into account).
Driving directions from Leeds:
- Travel out of Leeds on the A64 towards York and the A1.
- When you reach the roundabout where the A64 crosses the A1, take the second exit. This is a new road which runs north parallel with the A1 and is signposted to Bramham. This exit is after you’ve crossed the A1 but before you rejoin the A64.
- Continue on this road for aproximately one mile and turn left at the traffic lights into Bowcliffe Hall and Bramham Park.
- Cross over the A1 again, and head straight on into the Bowcliffe Hall main car park.
- Drive straight through the car park and at the top turn right towards the main building. Continue past all of the parked cars until you see our visitor parking area on your right (marked "Reserved - Fensham Howes Ltd").
- Opposite our visitor parking is a large stone archway. Walk through the archway and you will find the Lodge located on the left hand side of the courtyard.
Driving directions from the South:
- Head North on the M1 towards Leeds.
- At junction 43 bear left and follow the signs for the A1 North and Wetherby.
- Continue on the A1 to the junction with the A64 (Leeds/York).
- Leave the A1 at this junction, following the signs for Leeds. At the main roundabout take the third exit, signposted to Bramham. (NB you will cross back over the A1 before you reach this exit).
- Continue on this road for aproximately one mile and turn left at the traffic lights into Bowcliffe Hall and Bramham Park.
- Cross over the A1 again, and head straight on into the Bowcliffe Hall main car park.
- Drive straight through the car park and at the top turn right towards the main building. Continue past all of the parked cars until you see our visitor parking area on your right (marked "Reserved - Fensham Howes Ltd").

Driving directions from the North:
- Head south on the A1 towards Wetherby.
- Continue south on the A1 past Wetherby, after approximately one mile leave the A1 at the junction with the A659 (signposted to Boston Spa).
- At the main roundabout, take the third exit, signposted to Wetherby.
(NB you will pass under the A1 before you reach this exit) - Stay in the left hand lane as you approach the "Wattle Syke" roundabout.
- Take the first exit at this roundabout, signposted to Bramham and Thorner.
- Continue on this road for approximately two miles until you reach a "T" junction. At this junction, turn left and cross back over the A1.
- At the next "T" junction, turn right (signposted to Bowcliffe Hall).
- After about quarter of a mile turn right at the traffic lights into Bowcliffe Hall and Bramham Park.
- Cross over the A1 again, and head straight on into the Bowcliffe Hall main car park.
- Drive straight through the car park and at the top turn right towards the main building. Continue past all of the parked cars until you see our visitor parking area on your right (marked "Reserved - Fensham Howes Ltd").
