Our Approach

Effective planning depends upon our ability to fully empathise with your unique situation. This means that we must understand and appreciate all of the human elements affecting your situation, in addition to knowing how to apply hard science to identify appropriate solutions. In this context, the process can be seen as being as much 'art' as it is 'science'.

At Fensham Howes, we invest a significant amount of time right at the start of the relationship to fully understand and identify with your personal goals and motivations. Building this strong empathy is very much the 'art' side of our business, and it is important that we do this at an early stage because it will enable us to employ our technical knowledge and investment expertise to build the strategy that most effectively meets all of your expectations and needs - both today and in the years to come.

To ensure we achieve this all new clients broadly follow the same comprehensive process that has six key stages:

  • An initial, no-obligation, exploratory meeting - where you can establish whether our approach makes sense for you, and where we can establish whether you will benefit from our service.
  • A more detailed "discovery" meeting - where we obtain a more in depth picture of your current financial circumstances and your personal goals, objectives and concerns.
  • A comprehensive "strategy" meeting - where we present our initial assessment of your current position and discuss strategic options for achieving your goals and objectives.
  • Our Reports - where we provide you with a series of formal reports, setting out our recommended strategy and providing details of the individual actions required to put the strategy in place.
  • An “action” meeting where our recommendations put into place.
  • Regular "review" meetings - where we meet with you on an ongoing basis, provide status reports on your financial position, and review/update the planning strategy in light of any developments in your circumstances since our last meeting.

More information on each of these steps can by found by following the "process" link on the right hand side of this page.

Experience has taught us that the major events in people's lives rarely fall conveniently to coincide with their regularly scheduled review meeting. An important part of our service is therefore our commitment to react swiftly to help you deal with unforeseen events - providing reassurance and expertise when it is needed most.
