Lewis Howes

Director and co-founder

Lew Howes is a career financial professional with many years of board level experience in global companies.

Lew began his career in financial services, holding senior positions in major West Coast US banks where his activities involved capital markets, corporate finance, and treasury. Prior to moving to London in 1991, he served as Senior Vice President and Assistant Treasurer of Security Pacific Corporation (‘SPC’), at that time the fifth-largest bank holding company in the United States with assets totalling $80bn. At SPC, he was responsible for the global issuance of all debt and equity securities by SPC in public and private markets. He also played a supporting role in the establishment of investment portfolio strategies and criteria for the Security Pacific pension plan.

Lew moved to London in 1991 to join Inter-Continental Hotels and Resorts, the FTSE 100 global hotel company with assets totalling $3bn, where he served as Group CFO in the late 1990s. At Inter-Continental, he was directly responsible for developing and implementing investment portfolio strategies for the group’s pension plans worldwide.

After leaving Inter-Continental in late 1998, Lew served as the Chief Operating Officer of Nomura Principal Finance Group (now Terra Firma Capital Partners), a leading European private equity organisation holding a portfolio of companies with a combined turnover in excess of $10bn; and as the Group CFO of a major pan-European hospitality technology company.

Lew is focussed on developing investment methodologies that enable individual and private trust investors to benefit from techniques historically available only to large institutional players such as pension funds. He has worked closely with Giles Pidcock to develop and implement the Fensham Howes client proposition, which combines comprehensive financial planning with structured asset class investing.

Lew is a trustee of the Inter-Continental Hotels Group pension scheme, where he shares responsibility for the prudent investment of assets in excess of £260m.

He holds the Certificate in Financial Planning, a bachelors degree in Economics from Stanford University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Southern California.
